International Day of Family Remittances – 16 June

In news:

On 16^th June 2018, International Day of Family Remittances was observed all over the world.

International Day of Family Remittances:
i. The International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) is celebrated every year on 16 June.
ii. This day highlights the significant financial contribution made by migrant workers to their families back home and to the sustainable development of their native countries.
iii. 16 June was declared as International Day of Family Remittances by the IFAD’s Governing Council in 2015. This day was adopted by the UN General Assembly in June 2018.
iv. The first International Day of Family Remittances was celebrated on 16 June 2015. This day aims to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) “One Family at a Time” produced for the International Day of Family Remittances 2018.
